The IRS has been behind schedule since the COVID pandemic began. The IRS has been tasked with extra duties – stimulus checks, child tax credit payments, unemployment refund checks, math error increases, etc. While the IRS has always been slow to answer phone calls from taxpayers – IRS wait times have reached epidemic proportions (pun intended).

An entrepreneur saw an opportunity with these IRS hold times and created a company that stands in line for its customers. Then hands the call off when an IRS representative is ready to take the call. Biden’s Build Back Better Plan does not call for a Mileage tax – Yet. The plan does, however, create the National Motor Vehicle Per-Mile User Fee Pilot which is “a program to test the feasibility of a road usage fee and other user-based alternative revenue mechanisms.” Oregon and Utah already have pilot programs in place and many eastern states have proposed these programs.

Americans should be skeptical of any program designed to track and document everywhere you go and how long you stay there. Autonomy and Liberty go hand in hand.
